ATC C4 Sub Mk2 subwoofer

The new ATC C4 Sub Mk2 can easily provide a somewhat firmer foundation as far as bass is concerned.

Especially smaller speakers often just don’t reach that more impressive low, so you might miss something of the sound experience. The new ATC C4 Sub Mk2 can help. This is an active subwoofer with a built-in 300 watt class AB amplifier. According to the manufacturer, the sub is ideally suited for supporting audiophile music and movies. The heart of the system is formed by the completely new and patented 12-inch SS75-314SC bass driver. This is driven by the already mentioned 300 watt power amplifier built into the sub.

No electronic correction

The new driver in the ATC C4 Sub Mk2 is fully optimized for – how surprising – bass reproduction. For example, a “short coil – long gap” design ensures that the voice coil always remains within the motor even during large cone movements. According to the manufacturer, this ensures optimal cooling and reduces power compression. This in turn should lead to increased reliability. Another special feature of the design is that no electronic correction is required. The analog low-pass filters are all that is needed. On the back of the sub you will find, among others, two balanced line inputs and outputs. On the latter, you can connect the main speakers of your system if you wish, or connect further subs.

Many finishing possibilities

The ATC C4 Sub Mk2 costs £3990 with standard finishes. The choices here are many: Cherry, Black Ash, Walnut and Oak real-wood veneers, as well as Satin Black and Satin White finishes. There are also premium finishes, in which case we’re talking Rosewood, European Crown Cut Walnut, Burr Magnolia and Pippy Oak. In that case, you will pay £4750. If you go for piano lacquer in black or white, the price tag changes to £6140. All wood veneers can be coated with a high-gloss lacquer if you wish, for an additional cost of £1979.
