Time for the fifth episode of Dutch VPRO On Stage, set set for Friday, Oct. 13. The protagonist this episode is Ilse de Lange.
Ilse DeLange is the main guest in the fifth episode of VPRO On Stage. The Dutch singer is in the business for a quarter of a century this year. She brings with her many acts she would like to introduce to a wider audience, such as Jana Mila, The Indien and singing drummer Marlon Pichel. From Belgium comes Stef Kamil Carlens, the musician who has an illustrious past with bands such as dEUS and Zita Swoon. She also had Matthew Crosby and Jake Etheridge come over, two of her writing partners from Nashville
Not an easy profession
‘I am very inspired by everyone here,’ DeLange confesses at the end of the broadcast. She sighs, ‘It’s not an easy profession. You are often confronted with yourself and then you have to find your own way. That’s hard enough. That is the core of what connects us all here. A career in music does not add up: if I do this and this, I will be there. The outcome is completely unknown. Just good music is not enough. I admire everyone who embarks on that journey, like all the musicians here’.
