The FiiO FT3 Edition is an open headphone with an impedance of 32 Ohms, making it very easy to drive from numerous sources.
Well, the FT3 appeared last year, but the FiiO FT3 Edition has an impedance of 32 Ohms. The original “Edition”-less version has an impedance of 350 Ohms, which makes it just a little more difficult to drive. Otherwise, the specs have remained largely the same: 60mm dynamic drivers placed in an aluminum alloy housing. It makes the open headphones not only sturdy but also nicely lightweight: 391 grams. In order to still be able to properly steer the driver at a lower impedance, the manufacturer had to look for a different material for the diaphragm. This eventually became an LCP Aluminum-coated Aluminum Metal Composite diaphragm.
Balanced or unbalanced
Included with the FiiO FT3 Edition is a set of interchangeable connectors, choose from 3.5mm and 6.35mm unbalanced or 4.4mm and XLR-4 balanced. The price for the Edition is €299, where you can go for a white or black version. There was nothing about the headphones on the manufacturer’s site at the time of writing, but we did find them in this webshop (see screenshot at the top).
