I drove 4 hrs each way to visit a TAD dealer, I listened to the EVO one tx, micro EVO tx, CE1tx and the CR1's on a TAD system with Siltech interconnects and TAD speakers cables. The Evo 1,mirco and the Ce1tx sounded sooooo bad, way too bright and harsh. Yet the CR1's sound much more carm and better but still nothing special

I've also listened to the CE1tx in the Patreon zone and they sounded very nice and pleasant with a lot of detail.

I don't understand what went wrong with the shop demo??

@ryleybob It could be anything to be honest. Maybe you don't like the TAD-amps combined with the speakers. Or the source? How are the acoustics? Our listening room is pretty neutral sounding for example. And we use Pass labs with the Sonnet-dac.

@ryleybob  Interesting!  That's exactly the experience i had here in Sweden at a TAD dealer. After listening on Youtube and reading reviews i thought the TAD CE1TX  was the one!  I was so disappointed  and confused as to why they sounded so bad at the Tad dealership, they were connected with TAD amps and Siltech cables. Since then i've experienced them at a friends house where it was a completely different experience with a Pass labs x350.8 and Siltech cables. I believe the Pass labs power amp was what made the difference in this case. The CR1's are amazing if you can afford them.

@ac81017 Indeed! Matching is very, very important. Just as acoustics.
