Op welk vlak?
Analytisch betekent zeer weinig vervorming. Het is treurig dat veel mensen zo gewend zijn aan kleuring van het geluid dat analytisch als minpunt wordt bestempeld. Als muziek kil en gevoelloos klinkt, komt dat omdat er in de opnamestudio alle emotie is uitgemixed. Als er zoveel mogelijk geld moet worden verdiend, sneuvelt de kwaliteit. Maar daar kan je de versterker toch niet de schuld van geven?
Analytisch betekent niet direct zeer weinig vorvorming. Schoon en precies betekent weinig vervorming. Analytisch kan ook betekenen dat zaken zijn aangezet en dat er dus overmatig veel hoorbaar is. Dat kan op vanalles duiden. Vergelijk het met de verscherping op sommige TV’s. Dit zorgt niet voor een preciezer beeld: het is scherper dan de realiteit. Dat kan je ook realiseren met geluid door zaken aan te zetten. Pre-ringing doet dat met digitale audio bijvoorbeeld.
Wij zijn helemaal voor schone weergave zonder kleuring. Ik ben persoonlijk vrij allergisch voor kleuring. En ja: als een studio zijn werk goed doet, klinkt dat vrijwel altijd geweldig op een goede set die in balans is.
