De Synology DS216+ is een prima NAS voor serieuze gebruikers of kleine bedrijven. De prestaties zijn goed. Zowel op gebied van doorvoersnelheid als in de software van Synology. Het nieuwe DSM6 biedt weinig nieuws ten opzichte van versie 5. Dat is echter geen probleem, want de software werkt ronduit subliem. Er zijn talloze uitbreidingen beschikbaar, waardoor de gebruiker echt zijn eigen cloud kan bouwen.
Het enige probleem met de DS216+ is dat er een DS716 is. Die biedt iets meer rekenkracht en is tevens uit te breiden met een extentie-bay. En aangezien het prijsverschil niet heel groot is, is de DS716 zonder meer interessanter voor gebruikers die graag een slag om de arm houden.
