ASR Emitter 1

Measurements and conclusion

Contents

We see neat measurements with a few things that stand out. The noise floor is low. Very low in fact. The THD versus frequency also shows particularly low values. Everything stays – well! – under 0.01%. Crosstalk is good with 95dB channel separation.

The power measurement, however, is somewhat strange. First of all, it is extremely difficult to measure this amplifier in terms of power. No idea why, but our Prism and the Emitter 1 are not friends in this measurement. We end up measuring well over the specified power, but we find the distortion at low input voltages a bit high. Do realize that the measurement starts at 0.10uW. That is unprecedentedly low. However, at 1 watt, we see 0.09%. And that does not quite rhyme with the THD measurement we did earlier, so we estimate that the interplay between the Prism and Emitter in this test did not go quite right.

All in all, we see neat, stable values that show that Mr. Schaefer has put a neat product on the market.

Conclusion

ASR has an impressive product in its product range with the Emitter 1. The Emitter 1 Exclusive has loads of clean and fast power. This results in a very correct but not over-analytical reproduction with a remarkably large and precise stereo image. This is sure to please many enthusiasts. The external power supply as well as battery power make a filter unnecessary, which in turn saves costs. Which is nice!
