The Cabasse Pearl Keshi App
The app works stable and fast. Here and there we still see some fuzzy translations. Streaming is by default via UPnP, which works fine if you have your music properly tagged and you have a good server. Tidal, Qobuz, Napster, Deezer and Spotify are also found. In short: plenty of sources to play with. Should you want more: Bubble UPnP can stream from services to a UPnP source.
Conclusion
At first glance, the Cabasse Pearl Keshi looks like a designer system. And in a way it is. But Cabasse has also made sure that it sounds good. Much better than many a conventional fan would think. The Keshi plays big, airy and remarkably coherent. Even at low volume. And that makes it a pleasant life partner.We do see some areas for improvement. The wiring is attached to the satellites, which we understand in a way. But what if you want shorter or longer cables? Or the wire breaks? Also, we really miss hdmi on this system. We estimate that many people use this set with their TV. It' s ideal... Compact, but big sound. In short: the ideal replacement for those soundbars... And the remote control is not handy because it often has to be re-paired, which takes time. Bit irritating after a while.
Fortunately, we have a great app that didn't let us down during the review period!
I bought one of these units for the house, they were 50% off and hard to resist. These Keshi units are now Roon Ready, and now playing on another level. The sound is incredibly impressive to say the least. I, and others that have heard this system were very impressed. It has a clean sound, punchy bass and handles vocals with ease, the internal DAC and streamer are very competent and the Class D amp does not sound Class D, it has that A/B sound signature. Then the DSP, Cabasse really pulled this off in spades. Short of using REW, this has to be the best room correction software I have ever experienced in a stand alone audio device, it nails it every time.
Just to say, the Pearl Keshi is very dynamic, especially in larger rooms, and yes, the subwoofer does keep up. Honestly, this is a system I could place in any room in my house. Could it replace a main system? I would say, for some folks it very easily could, especially if space is limited for a traditional 2 channel system, this may just fill that void. I found the speakers both physically and sonically disappear in the room, which is very cool for such a large sounding system. I enjoyed it so much, I bought a second Keshi system. And yes, the remote needs work. A simple traditional remote that works would have made more sense, so plan on using the app to control this system if you purchase one.
