The test set-up

This is a somewhat more complex test. Especially if you are not familiar with streaming audio with homebrew servers or streamers. We basically tested two set-ups and put the Ambre next to them as a reference. Simply explained, the chain is as follows:
Set-up 1
- Roon server with Jcat NET Card XE
- Alpha Audio PC with Jcat Femto NIC and USB
- Jcat Optimo Duo power supply on Femto NIC and Femto USB
- Mutec MC3+ as usb interface to the Pavane
- Connection through the network. Through fiber as well as through copper.
Set-up 2
- Roon server with Jcat NET Card XE
- Alpha Audio PC with Jcat Femto NIC and USB
- Jcat Optimo Duo power supply on Femto NIC and Femto USB
- Mutec MC3+ as usb interface to the Pavane
- Direct connection between Roon server and Audio PC
Compare
- Metrum Acoustics Ambre stereamer, connected through the Fiber network
And further:
- Focal Sopra No1 loudspeakers
- Pass Labs XP-12 preamplifier
- Bryston 4B SST3 power amplifier
- Metrum Acoustics Pavane (DAC3)
- Mutec MC3+ USB reclocker
