Bottom line...

Contents

The new Baby Ambre is a really good deal. Especially considering the fact that you can buy two Baby Ambre’s plus two nice digital interlinks for the price of one ordinary Ambre.

When we look at the competition we don’t see much that is going to come close musically. Sonos, Heos, Yamaha… Bluesound… that’s players with dac. And so they’re in a different class.

Auralic? Cambridge? NAIM? Lumin? SoTM? Advance Acoustic ?There are not so many other brands with a bridge of 500 euros. Interesting product!

Conclusion

Metrum is completing his entry line with the Baby Ambre. Now a headphone amplifier and perhaps a nice 'mini amplifier' ... Then Metrum really has the dream set for the novice audio enthusiast.

The sound qualities of the Baby Ambre are sublime. It is very close to the ordinary Ambre. The points where the ordinary Ambre wins, is low punch, low energy and spaciousness. Things that can be heard on a beautiful transparent system. But yes: the price difference... significant. And if we look at the competition... 5 stars and Alpha Approved. No doubt about it.
