Streaming is the power of the Naim Uniti Nova Power Edition
Contents
Naim’s streaming platform works as a Roon endpoint and Audirvāna also works flawlessly with this device. Buyers of the Naim Uniti Nova Power Edition will mainly use its own streaming platform. For this review, the accompanying Naim app was used, mainly with streaming services. Besides streaming, an Audiolabs CD transport is used for this review.
For locally stored files played through UPnP, you depend on the quality of the hardware running the UPnP server software and the quality of the UPnP software itself. Those with a large collection of files would do well to pay attention to a good music server or to connect a hard disk via USB to the Naim and use the software running on the Naim platform. A music server is more convenient if you often add new files.
The Naim platform itself can also serve as a music server for other streamers in the house that play through UPnP, for example if you have a Naim Muso elsewhere in the house. If the files are on a connected hard disk or a USB drive, you can specify in the menu of the Naim app that the Nova also serves as a music server.
The included remote control is nice and also usable for those using streaming services. If you select a playlist, you can use the remote to navigate through it and even mark tracks as favourites with the remote.
