How it sounds
Contents
We can best describe the sound as pleasant. There isn’t too much or too little of anything. No all-consuming bass, no bully treble that especially is annoying your neighbors on public transport. It just sounds averagely good, as we expect from this type of earbud. And because the sound is so nicely balanced, we can listen to it for a long time. It’s also nice for phone calls (or online meetings). Voices sound neutral and are at the right listening distance.
What sounds wonderful on the Soundpeats Air4 is piano. Classical or jazz, it comes across very naturally and there is a lot of detail. This underscores our observation that the Air4 is good at reproducing the midrange.
If you like solid bass reproduction, you might be better off choosing another in-ear system. The Air4 remains nicely in a sort of middle range of the frequency spectrum, allowing you to hear the music well but not get completely involved in the music. That also seems like a wise choice given the intended daily use of these earsticks (outdoors, on a bike, on the road). A very interesting and well-priced alternative to Apple’s AirPods!
