The speakers are brand new, so we run them in for about a week. This is no luxury, as the sound is all over the place the first few days. After that, it’s a matter of finding the right spot, as our ‘normal’ position doesn’t work well at all. Eventually, I have an ‘aha’ moment when, one day, I move the stands closer to the back wall. At 20cm – quite close, in fact – the Beta7 finally receives a much-needed ‘oomph’ and punch in the bass. We then moved the speakers a bit closer together, about 1m80 apart, and moved the listening chair a bit closer too, also to about 1m80. Now it’s finally time to listen. Phew!
The Beta 7 is driven by my Moon 600i V2 integrated amplifier, also manufactured on the other side of the Atlantic, and cabling is by Driade. The rest of the system is listed below.
