Synergistic Research Orange Fuses: get 3, pay 2

Saving money is always nice. So this promotional initiative by Kemp Electronics, concerning the Synergistic Research Orange Fuses is more than welcome.

Fuses seem to many undoubtedly the most boring parts there are. It is just a melting wire in a – mostly – transparent or non-transparent cylinder. We couldn’t make it any easier, could we? Well, for audiophiles there is a lot to improve on this simple but essential gem. Poor connections and transition resistors can for example be a cause of voltage drops, noise and other disturbances. And so the purists prefer – well – purist audiophile fuses. That is possible, for example, with the ‘special’ fuses by Synergistic Research: the Orange Fuses. Kemp Electronics has a nice deal on those…

Definitely extra for nothing!

Ronald Kemp of Kemp Electronics e-mails: ‘There is no other tweak or upgrade in this price range (to even much higher) that has so much positive effect on your image and sound as replacing a standard fuse by an Orange Fuse. We at Kemp Elektroniks are so convinced of the quality of these Synergistic Research fuses that a 30 day money back guarantee applies. During the month of August Kemp Elektroniks offers the third one free of charge when buying two fuses’.

Always nice, isn’t it, such an extra? By the way, you can find Kemp Elektroniks at Quellijnstraat 9&15 in Amsterdam.

  1. What a strange stuff that quantum material. It seems the impact must fit your systems demands, because in my case the sound transition kept on for 72 hours. I don’t like the end result. I mean the impact is unbelievable, but with high end audio it is always a matter of combining, selecting and tuning to get the best result. With Synergistic and Quantum fuses I always got in trouble over and over again. Is it because we don’t use Wifi and Bluetooth in our home? I mean is there a need for noise for the fuses to cancel.

The funny part is that I think we must forget it is a fuse. This just seems like a smart trick from the manufacturers. People understand something physical like a fuse, because a fuse can have an impact, but people can’t understand the impact of some sort of quantum stuff. A fuse trick seems Bulls…t to me. When I just lay the fuse behind my system the effect is there, really there even more than with a quantum sticker. After I lay the fuse close to a field of energy the transition of the sound begins and it always seems to take 24 to 72 hours. These are just advanced quantum stickers. Advanced because the impact is really better.

I have auditioned these fuses for at least 7 months and literally every day I had to move my loudspeakers, sometimes a few millimeters up to a few centimeters. There must be something that impacts the quantum material which influences the sound of my system. Without the fuses I don’t have to move my loudspeakers around. So I have a love and hate relationship with these fuses, the fuses really can easily dubbel the sound quality, but I decided I’m better off without them, at least until I know where the impact comes from.

  2. I’m switched from SR orange to SR purple to QSA Violet and QSA Red. This week I finally found out what is going on with the fuses. The fuses seem to do nothing with the powersupply and also nothing directly with the devices that are fed, still the effect on the sound is extreme!!! Like the difference of complete standard cabling on a system in comparison with the best cabling money can buy and on top of this many other upgrades… yes that is in my opinion the impact of one QSA Red fuse. But again it does nothing with the devices directly. They actually work just like the quantum stickers and Gabriel chips and probably just like Furutech NCF powerplugs, powerblocks and powersockets . A quantum sticker is activated by fields around the system and seems to do something with the environment, which has impact on the electronics

The quantum material on the fuses also need some activation and that is done by the field around the fuse caused by the current or the alternating voltage. The more noise through the fuse the better the activation seems to be (sparkling cleaning everywhere), but when the field stabilizes (after the break in period) the quantum material does it’s job like cleaning the same spot over and over again. I hear that the sound become super thight and looses some naturalness on voices. This doesn’t happen when a new cable, powersupply or other device is installed. No while breaking in something the sound is so much better. But now the fun part. I have a powersupply with a QSA red fuse and this powersupply has nothing to feed. It’s just standing there doing nothing, only feeding the standby led. This seems more then enough cleaning service I need. Still the effect is really big. Switching off the powersupply is out of the question. Also I found a nice spot for the powersupply 1.5meters from the system for a better result.

For years I was in trouble with fuses and it always seemed i’m was the only one. Well when I switch on the Wifi in our house I hear the music brightens up, like the fuse in the powersupply is getting to work. It seems the effect of the fuses is to strong for invironments free of Wifi and bluetooth. The field in our house is below 0.1V/m in a range of 200Mhz to 8Ghz. Normally these fields are above 0.3 to 1V/m which goes square root is hundreds of times higher than at our home.

      • Hello Jaap, thanks! It’s probably not the exact scientific way indeed 😉 It’s for me the most logical explanation, because the fuses only seem te work on equipment nearby. We don’t hear any differences on our second setup in another room. For sure the fuses already work when nothing is connected with the audio system. In the latest test i’ve used another distribution cable which is connected to another ground system. Still the impact of the fuse was unmistakable and 100%. In fact when it does something to the powersystem it should be audible on both systems. On the other hand while the powersupply was completely covered with an anti radiadion cloth it only brought a slight difference.

Good luck with your article about powerconditioning!

          • Yes for sure! For 2.5 years I was in trouble due to the impact of a few things. The signal of cable internet which also brings the signal on the televisions. Which caused noise on the powernet through the televisions. A few clocks that brought noise in the ether and the lack of Wifi and bluetooth. This in combination with several fuses was almost unsolvable. I hope I have nailed it now… so fingers crossed. It took me a few thousand hours a lot of equipment, but now I have new ways to explore and tunings options. For example what does this fuse when sticked on a powercable of a switching powersupply or at the cable of an Amp. I already can tell that it makes a clear difference.
