Bryston acquired by James Tanner and Colquhoun Audio

Canadian Bryston has fallen into the hands of James Tanner – who is now CEO effective immediately – and Colquhoun Audio. The latter, like Bryston, is a manufacturer of audio equipment.

James Tanner is certainly no stranger at Bryston. He began working for the company in 1976. Together with Colquhoun Audio, he wants to improve relationships with dealers. This will include a whole range of new services, such as an online portal for order processing, a web-to-dealer referral system, an expansion of the sales team, a customer service hotline and real-time support for dealers and customers. Furthermore, the development and manufacturing processes are being modernized. Production will remain in Canada.

Founded in 1970

Simultaneously with the installation of James Tanner as the new CEO, his predecessor Chris Russell is retiring. Fear not, however: he remains a consultant with the company. Not very surprising, since it was, after all, his family that founded the company decades back.

To be precise, Bryston was started in 1970 and is based in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Meanwhile, products of the brand are sold in sixty countries worldwide. A beautiful success story that will undoubtedly have a (long) sequel if it is up to the new owners and CEO. And there are plenty of other good things in the pipeline. Like the new BR-20 preamplifier, available this month, for example.
