By no means everyone wants a full-blown hi-fi set in the living room or, let’s say, the kitchen. For them the Meridian Ellipse may be the answer.
The Munich High End 2024 is already history. Numerous new products were traditionally launched, including this Meridian Ellipse. It is the third speaker from the stables of this manufacturer born out of the “Extreme Engineering” program there. In fact, it is an all-in-one implementation of a complete Meridian system. Among other stuff, 12 different DSP technologies are available to achieve this. Furthermore, it is the brand’s first speaker to use their new R2 platform. As for software, all is handled by the Meridian Atlas Software Core. In it you will find the same techniques used in the DSP8000XE and DSP9.
From analog to digital
The Meridian Ellipse features several inputs: USB, mini-TOSLINK and a stereo analog input. The analog sound is digitized and further processed via an internal ADC with a quality of 88 kHz / 24 bit. You can connect the speaker to your (home) network via Wifi or LAN. All in all, a quite versatile device that could be the central performance of basically any room in your house. Or office, for that matter.
