Atoll Electronique has made several updates to its Evolution CD players and transports, as reported by Dutch distributor Viertron.
As of October 2024, Atoll Electronique has implemented significant upgrades to its existing CD players and transport models. “Due to the increasingly scarce market for transports, the company has decided to use a standard transport in all of its players. The chosen unit is the TEAC CD-5020B, due to its improved reading quality and more efficient data transfer,” reports BENELUX (BElgium, NEtherlands LUXembourg) distributor Viertron.
Additionally, the D/A converters in the players have been upgraded compared to their predecessors:
- MD100 EVO: PCM5122
- CD50 EVO and CD80 EVO: PCM1791A
- CD100 EVO: PCM1796
- CD200 EVO: PCM1792A
Special Transformers
All power supply paths have been redesigned, with special attention to stability and performance calmness in audio. The new models are equipped with special transformers with low energy consumption:
- CD50 EVO: 8 regulated power supplies
- CD80 EVO, CD100 EVO, and CD200 EVO: 10 regulated power supplies
- All transports are equipped with an additional 1.6VA power supply.
Furthermore, all players now come with a 12V trigger output, allowing connection between the transport and an amplifier if needed. The EVO series can be recognized by the front panel labeled “EVOLUTION.” Now that all transports and CD players have been upgraded to the EVO series, the focus will shift to the amplifiers. By the end of the year, we also expect to introduce the new EVO series amplifiers.
