Just across the border—at least for Dutch visitors—the World of Headphones will take place at the end of August in Essen, Germany.
Always a fun day out, World of Headphones is organized by the well-known High End Society. This year’s event in Essen is scheduled for August 30, under the name “The Headphone Show”—but that shouldn’t spoil the fun. The venue is Oktogon Zollverein Essen, a remarkable location that’s part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The former coal mine buildings now host guided tours and more. If you’re a fan of industrial heritage, it might be worth extending your visit by a day or two.
Back to the actual headphone event: you’ll find a wide selection of brands and models, all available for hands-on listening. Especially if you’re interested in higher-end headphones, the opportunity to try and compare them in person is invaluable. Definitely worth spending a full day, especially considering that entry is completely free!
