The Focal Mu-So Hekla takes its name from the famous Icelandic volcano — though there’s no need to fear this one. On the contrary, it’s all about enjoyment and versatility. This is a true all-in-one system, complete with built-in speakers. The total maximum output power of the Hekla reaches an impressive 660 watts, delivered by its integrated Class D amplifier. You can use the system as a traditional wireless speaker, with support for AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Bluetooth. Popular streaming services such as Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Spotify Connect are all supported. The maximum playback quality reaches 32-bit / 384 kHz PCM and DSD up to DSD128. Music playback from a local network source (like a NAS) is also possible via UPnP, and internet radio is built in as well.
Dolby Atmos and HDMI eARC
Dolby Atmos support makes the Hekla particularly appealing to movie enthusiasts. HDMI eARC connectivity ensures easy integration with your television setup, while an optical TOSLINK input (up to 24-bit / 96 kHz) provides further flexibility for digital sources. A gigabit Ethernet port is also available. For multiroom setups, the system supports linking up to 32 Focal and Naim streaming devices, all controllable through the Focal & Naim app.
The Focal Mu-So Hekla features a robust anodized aluminum chassis in a sleek all-black finish. It’s a substantial piece of gear — one meter wide and weighing 15.5 kg — but it offers everything you need in one elegant package. The Focal Mu-So Hekla retails for €3,300.
