Shanling has launched the EC Zero T MAX, based on its ‘regular’ EC Zero T but featuring a number of improvements under the hood.
The brand-new EC Zero T MAX incorporates Shanling’s latest developments in R2R DAC technology. According to the manufacturer, it has also listened carefully to customer feedback regarding the EC Zero T released last year. Among other things, this has resulted in an improved headphone amplifier.
The headphone stage is built around an AD8397, providing what Shanling describes as a ‘significantly reduced output impedance’. This should make the player suitable for demanding full-size headphones as well as in-ear monitors. The ladder DAC, based on an R2R resistor network, remains essentially the same as the one used in its predecessor. However, Shanling says it has made improvements to the surrounding circuitry. These changes are said to produce an even wider and deeper soundstage, while adding a little more transparency to the midrange and treble.
The EC Zero T MAX is available in Titanium Grey, featuring a new pattern on its lid. The price is €689.
