New Dutch brand Lyssna Acoustics will make its debut at the rapidly approaching Dutch Audio Event 2026; Dutch it all is for sure.
It is always nice to welcome a new home-grown brand. And although the word Lyssna in Lyssna Acoustics is Swedish in origin, this really is a thoroughly Dutch company. Founders Ruud Moerman and Kobus Oomen explain: ‘Lyssna is Swedish for “listen”, but for Scandinavians it has a much deeper meaning. The word represents a deep awareness of music and becoming completely immersed in it.’
Incidentally, Moerman and Oomen met through Omera Hifi and Streaming Media, Moerman’s business.
According to the announcement, Moerman has worked in the hi-fi industry for sixteen years and, through Omera, has helped countless people put together their audio systems. Kobus Oomen has been fascinated by loudspeakers for just as long: ‘Not only by how they sound, but also by the drivers, cabinets, materials and choices that determine the end result. Over the years, he has had several custom-built. His background in graphic design and entrepreneurship introduced a second requirement: a loudspeaker should not only sound good, but should also fit into the space in which people live.
Too many loudspeaker manufacturers force buyers to choose between sound quality, design, flexibility and practicality. And when someone wants more after a few years, they sell their system at a loss and start all over again. This is where Lyssna Acoustics aims to distinguish itself with Lyssna Modular, as its first series is called.’
Bass module
The duo continues: ‘Anyone starting with the compact Lyssna Monitor can later place it on our Bass Module. This transforms the monitor into a fully fledged three-way system, using the connection on the underside and without any additional cabling. The original purchase therefore remains part of the system.’
According to its press release, Lyssna Acoustics combines Dutch design with Czech craftsmanship. The cabinets are handmade in Europe, following the tradition of Scandinavian design: understated, organic and free of unnecessary embellishment.
The Products
For now, the brand-new company has the following products in its range, described here in the manufacturer’s own words:
- Lyssna Modular Monitor — a compact two-way monitor built around an optimised 4.5-inch bass/midrange driver. By allowing a single driver to handle most of the midrange, where human hearing is most sensitive, and keeping the crossover as simple as possible, the monitor achieves a high degree of coherence and dynamics.
- Lyssna Modular Bass Module — equipped with a 7.5-inch woofer and a carefully tuned 7.5-inch passive radiator. The module takes over the bass duties from the 4.5-inch driver, turning the combination into a genuine three-way loudspeaker with a larger soundstage, greater dynamics and deeper bass.
- Lyssna Stands — specifically designed for the Monitor, with a substantial construction and a seamless fit with the speaker.
The speakers are available in four matt finishes: Graphite, Petrol, Ultramarine and Cream.
Kickstarter Campaign Starts October 10
Coinciding with the Dutch Audio Event, Lyssna Acoustics will launch a 30-day Kickstarter campaign on October 10, 2026. The campaign is intended to finance the first major production run.
‘It is a deliberate choice,’ Ruud explains. ‘Our dream is to turn Lyssna Acoustics into an independently operating company right from the start, without being dependent on investors or banks. This allows us, both now and in the future, to focus on the products we make and those we still want to develop.’
Kobus adds: ‘We are not financing an idea. The speakers are here, they are finished, and enough people have listened to them by now for us to know what we have created. Should the campaign unexpectedly fail to reach its target, we will look at whatever options make sense at that point. It may take a little longer, but giving up is not an option for us. And anyone joining us now gets in at a price we will never offer again.’
Prices
The Monitor has a recommended retail price of €2,750 per pair, while backers will pay €2,100 during the campaign. A complete system with Bass Module costs €6,000 per pair and will be available during the campaign for €4,560. The first five sets will be signed by the founders and supplied with a certificate. Delivery is expected in March 2027.
