Audio giant Bose has acquired Skullcandy, the American headphone brand aimed primarily at younger consumers.
Perhaps the acquisition was already somewhat predictable, as Bose and Skullcandy have been working together for several years. Consequently, the takeover by the former doesn’t come entirely out of the blue.
According to its new owner, however, the Skullcandy brand will continue to exist. At the same time, the company will be able to make even greater use of Bose’s audio expertise and technology. An additional benefit is the expanded global reach resulting from the acquisition.
Furthermore, the youth-oriented brand will retain its headquarters in Park City, Utah. So, at least for the time being, not much will change on the surface.
Besides headphones and in-ear models, Skullcandy also produces portable speakers.
