The Jamo HYG 5 is the manufacturer’s new all-in-one flagship in the portable speaker category.
The recently launched Jamo HYG 5 is an all-in-one Wi-Fi speaker. In addition to the speakers themselves (two 2.5-inch full-range drivers angled upwards and outwards, plus a 4-inch downward-firing woofer) and an amplifier, there’s also a built-in streamer under the bonnet. To enhance the atmosphere, a sensor automatically adjusts the integrated ambient light ring to match the lighting conditions in the room. However, you can also control it manually through the accompanying app or simply switch it off altogether.
On the streaming side, we find support for the familiar names Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect and Spotify Connect. Meanwhile, TuneIn provides access to internet radio stations from around the world. Naturally, AirPlay 2 and Google Cast are also supported, while Bluetooth 5.0 is available as well. And if you’d like to connect your trusty old CD player or cassette deck (to name just a couple of examples…), you can do so via the dedicated stereo RCA line input. The maximum supported streaming quality is 24-bit/96kHz, which puts the Jamo HYG 5 firmly in the hi-res audio category.
The Jamo HYG 5 is available in three colour options and costs €399.
