Google has released the new Chromecast with Google TV 4K. The dongle is the lastest of Chromecasts.

The production of capable chips and related hardware is becoming cheaper by the day. This can be seen in, for example, devices that would cost a lot of money a decade or so ago and nowadays are sold for… well… a couple of bucks. That is also the case with the new Chromecast with Google TV. A dongle that makes every television an up-to-date smart one and is smaller than a compact computer mouse. Yet it effortlessly plays 4K/60 fps content, including support for Dolby Vision HDR. It also features a voice-activated remote control and buttons for quick access to the most commonly used parts of the system. The same remote control can also be used to control the basic functions of your TV, such as input selection, volume control and power on/off.

All-in-one

Google TV is the name of the user interface the dongle has on board. It gives you access to more than 6500 apps, including Netflix, Disney+, YouTube. It provides a library of 400,000 movies and episodes in one place. Of course, this Chromecast with Google TV also supports the ability to ‘cast’ to it from mobile devices.

Collaboration with other Chromecast-capable devices makes multiroom possible. The price? $50 dollars, which is nothing for all these possibilities. At the time of writing not yet available in the Netherlands, but in the US. By the way, we continue to regret that the compact audio streamer is no longer made by Google. But apparently that won’t be financially worth it anymore.
