Disney Plus is also going to raise its prices quite a bit, by about 27% in the US to be exact. How long will streaming remain interesting?

A few years ago, people subscribed en masse to several streaming services simultaneously. Affordable and jam-packed with entertainment, what more could you want? However, the affordability is slowly starting to diminish, a trend we have been seeing more and more clearly lately. All streaming services are jacking up their prices. This time it is video streamer Disney Plus that in the U.S. is raising its subscription from $10.99 to $13.99. That’s a 27 percent increase in one big step. The related Hulu also goes up in price: from $14.99 to $17.99. Now that the “magic” $10 dollar has been broken, there seems to be no end in sight for price increases. What’s new, however, is a combo subscription for Disney Plus and Hulu together for $19.99. But even that’s still a hefty price for many users, too.

More expensive and more expensive, are you in?

Disney Plus is rolling out an ad-abo this November in a number of European countries (Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland). This will give you access to the video streaming service for – initially – €5.99 a month. But it will come with commercial breaks in between watching. Anyway, there is a lot going on in the streaming world, with rapidly increasing subscription prices. Whether you continue to participate in that is, of course, your own free choice. However, we do think that all these companies should watch out that they do not drive more and more people towards illegal downloads once again.
