While the recent OS update for Apple TV didn’t bring many notable changes, that’s about to change with at least one interesting and needed feature.
A forthcoming update of tvOS for Apple TV boxes, particularly exciting for those using Apple TV in home cinema setups, will introduce multiple aspect ratio options. With tvOS 18.2, users can choose from various ratios, including 16:9, 21:9, 2.37:1, 2.39:1, 2.40:1, 32:9, and DCI 4K. An automatic mode will detect the optimal aspect ratio based on the connected display. So, whether you’re using a cinema projector or an ultra-wide screen, a precisely tailored ratio will be available.
tvOS 18.2 is expected to roll out in early December.
