Philips Ambilight TV has become the official ‘Immersive TV Partner’ of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed in Europe, with the partnership running until the end of 2027.

TP Vision has announced a new European partnership between Philips Ambilight TV and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed. As part of the agreement, Philips Ambilight TV will serve as the ‘Official Immersive TV Partner’ of the hugely popular gaming franchise in Europe until December 2027.

According to the manufacturer, the partnership will involve various projects demonstrating how the right television can make gaming and game worlds richer, more cinematic and more immersive. The collaboration is being announced and officially launched at Gamescom in Cologne.

‘For Gamers, by Gamers. Developing the Best Gaming TVs in Ghent’

Gaming is one of the most demanding applications for a television in the home. Unlike movies or sports, a game responds to every action made by the player. Gamers expect extreme speed, clarity and complete control. In addition, gamers want to immerse themselves for extended periods in a believable and atmospheric game world,’ the announcement reads.

‘Speed, Precision and Consistent Performance’

Modern games demand speed, precision and consistent performance from a television,’ says Danny Tack, Senior Director Product Strategy & Planning at TP Vision. ‘Players expect extremely low input lag, smooth motion, reliable connectivity and razor-sharp detail. At the same time, the overall experience in the living room is becoming increasingly important. Thanks to this partnership, we are combining Ubisoft’s gaming expertise with the unique strength of Philips Ambilight TV: performance that completely draws players into the game, together with an immersive experience created by the Ambilight effect, which literally makes the game world extend beyond the screen.

According to Philips Ambilight TV, the latest Assassin’s Creed games, such as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, place greater demands on televisions: ‘Advanced lighting effects, sharper detail, dynamic environments, AI upscaling, high refresh rates and spatial audio make picture and sound quality more important than ever to the overall gaming experience. Philips Ambilight TV brings all these elements together with premium picture quality, a clear and spacious audiovisual experience and Ambilight, the lighting effect on the wall that extends the action beyond the screen. Moreover, for users who want to take things a step further, AmbiScape can synchronise Ambilight with smart lighting, allowing the atmosphere to spread throughout the entire room.

Technologies

To optimise the gaming experience on an Ambilight TV, various technologies and new features have been developed at the company’s own R&D centre in Ghent, the manufacturer explains. Development takes place with the assistance of a permanent group of gamers. Among other things, this resulted in the development of Game Bar 2.0, which allows gamers to quickly adjust their gaming experience, display technical information and save individual game preferences in one of ten profiles.

A large proportion of the 2026 Philips Ambilight TV models feature technologies including high refresh rates, VRR, HDMI 2.1, low-input-lag modes, Game Bar 2.0, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, as well as support for AMD FreeSync or NVIDIA G-SYNC.

These technologies work together with the fast P5 AI Picture Engine, which analyses every image in real time and optimises source quality, sharpness, colour, contrast and smoothness. As a result, games should look sharper, more natural and more detailed.

According to Philips, the P5 AI Picture Engine acts as an intelligent image-processing layer that refines the signal from a console or PC while preserving the game developer’s creative vision. Ambilight then spreads the colours and movement from the image across the wall behind the television, adding another layer of immersion and making the game world feel larger, richer and more lifelike.

Immersion

Immersion is at the heart of the Assassin’s Creed experience. Our teams spend years bringing historical worlds to life so that players feel completely immersed in the game from the moment they pick up the controller,’ says Martin Schelling, Head of Assassin’s Creed Brand. ‘Philips Ambilight TV offers players a fantastic way to enhance that feeling even further. When you climb to a viewpoint and the sunrise extends across the walls of the room through Ambilight, it feels as though the entire space becomes part of the game.

Marnix Bouw, European Product Marketing Director at TP Vision, adds: ‘As an avid gamer, I have been a huge fan of the worlds and stories of Assassin’s Creed for many years. As a television expert, I am particularly impressed by the way the franchise brings together historical cities, rooftops, temples, naval battles, characters, light, movement, sound, colour and atmosphere. These are precisely the elements that create the excitement and scale gamers are looking for, while simultaneously providing the perfect showcase for the qualities of Philips Ambilight TV: smooth motion, high contrast, rich colours, razor-sharp detail and a cinematic audio experience.

The Latest 2026 Philips Ambilight TV Line-Up: New Gaming Features

Philips Ambilight TV is keen to highlight several of its new models equipped with gaming features. As an exception, we have included the full descriptions of the models singled out by the company below—in the manufacturer’s own words, of course:

With several additions to its 2026 Gaming TV line-up arriving this summer, Philips Ambilight TV says it has a suitable TV for every gamer. The range covers a broad selection of display technologies and options for virtually every budget, from premium OLED and RGB MiniLED TVs to highly accessible 4K QLED televisions.

Award-Winning OLED8 Series

The Philips OLED811 and its sibling, the OLED851, are ideal OLED choices for gamers looking for deep blacks and impressive picture quality. These are powerful gaming TVs designed to excel in numerous areas.

Four HDMI 2.1 ports provide support for 4K VRR up to 165Hz, resulting in a highly responsive gaming experience. Input lag is just 8ms, while AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC provide even smoother gameplay without tearing or stuttering. Furthermore, the combination of OLED’s extremely fast response time and deeper black levels results in a sharper and more immersive image.

Gamers can also benefit from various software and hardware features and upgrades, including Dolby Vision and HDR10+ gaming, FreeSync Premium and G-SYNC compatibility, while the maximum refresh rate has been increased to 165Hz. In addition, the OLED8 Series will receive the new Dolby Vision 2 Max via a software update during the final quarter of 2026.

Personalised gaming remains an important focus throughout the Philips line-up, including its various OLED ranges. Gamers can therefore configure and save preferences and settings for individual games using Game Bar 2.0. Meanwhile, the auto-detection feature has been expanded to include additional HDR10+ titles in its list of compatible popular games.

Sound Quality

Attention has also been paid to TV sound quality, which is becoming increasingly important to gamers. Philips has equipped the OLED8 Series with an integrated 70W 2.2-channel audio system—50W on the 42-inch model—with support for both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. According to the company, its powerful and clear sound puts it ahead of much of the competition at its price point.

It is therefore perhaps no coincidence that the series—and specifically the 55OLED811 and 55OLED851—was named EISA Best Buy OLED 2026/2027 by EISA’s technology experts earlier in August.

The OLED8 Series is available in the Netherlands and Belgium from this summer in 42, 48, 55, 65 and 77-inch screen sizes.

Philips MLED981 Ambilight TV – The XL RGB MiniLED Gaming TV

For gamers looking for a TV with maximum visual impact, there is the brand-new Philips MLED981 RGB MiniLED Ambilight TV. This flagship model is available exclusively in an 85-inch version and features an RGB MiniLED panel. The technology delivers extremely rich colours and very high brightness.

Moreover, the model features FreeSync Premium Pro, VRR up to 165Hz and 330Hz DLG for ultra-fast gameplay.

Like Philips’ 2026 OLED line-up, the RGB MiniLED TV features 10th-generation P5 AI processing. Thanks to Auto HDR Tone Mapping, the dynamic range is automatically optimised for the TV’s picture capabilities when, for example, a PlayStation 5 is connected.

The MLED981 also offers substantial audio performance thanks to a powerful 70W 4.1-channel sound system, featuring two down-firing and two side-firing drivers plus a rear-mounted subwoofer. Consequently, the TV should produce an accurate and spacious soundstage, together with plenty of volume and powerful bass.

Philips The One

Philips The One, 4K QLED Ambilight TV: premium performance without the high-end price

The 2026 edition of the Philips The One Ambilight TV—the PQS9001 and related models—provides an accessible 4K QLED solution for gamers who want to combine a large screen with modern gaming features. This 2026 model supports VRR up to 144Hz or 240Hz DLG, thereby offering an attractive balance between performance, picture quality and an accessible price.

Virtually all Philips televisions this year feature the familiar Ambilight technology. The responsive LED lighting adds another dimension to gaming at home. In addition, the latest AmbiScape functionality allows up to four smart lights to synchronise their colours with the TV’s Ambilight system.

Users can choose from several smart-lighting brands—including Philips Hue, WiZ, IKEA and Nanoleaf—and can even mix products from different manufacturers. As a result, the entire room can reflect the atmosphere of the game being played.

The PQS9001 QLED ‘The One’ Series is already widely available in the Netherlands and Belgium in 43, 50, 55, 65 and 75-inch sizes. The XL 85-inch version and gigantic 100-inch model, with a diagonal of 2.54 metres, will be launched in October.

Philips Ambilight TV and Assassin’s Creed Partnership

According to Philips Ambilight TV and Assassin’s Creed, the partnership demonstrates ‘that an optimal gaming experience goes beyond technical specifications alone. The collaboration brings together the performance gamers expect with cinematic picture and sound quality, as well as the unique immersive atmosphere that only Ambilight can create. On a Philips Ambilight TV, the worlds of Assassin’s Creed are not confined to the screen—they come to life throughout the entire room.’

Over the next year and a half, the partnership will take further shape through joint campaigns, bundle promotions, releases and product introductions, as well as by bringing unique gaming experiences into the home.

Finally, as partners in ‘immersive gaming’, the two companies will also join forces at events including Gamescom and Heroes Dutch Comic Con in Utrecht in November this year.
