Craft Recordings launches unique vinyl reissues

Record label Craft Recordings releases a unique series of reissues on vinyl; the first limited series sold out in no time…

If, for any reason, you are a true vinyl lover, then the plans of the Californian Craft Recordings will be music to your ears. The label is going to reissue high quality classics on vinyl in very limited editions. The first run involved a thousand copies of John Coltrane’s Lush Life, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

Pressed on 180-gram discs and recorded in a one-step process (instead of the usual three) straight from the master, they should be closer than ever to the original, according to Craft Recordings. Sound engineer and Grammy winner Bernie Grundman used a custom preamp and analog mixer to do full justice to the old recordings.

More on the roll

The album – packaged in a nice sleeve with all sorts of extras – costs $99.99. At least, that was the price for the lucky ones who managed to get hold of a set: in the pre-sale the entire edition sold out within two hours. Undoubtedly, some sets will be offered on the various auction sites at a multiple of the original sales price.

But don’t worry, Craft Recordings has announced that they have more of these kinds of reissues on the agenda. To have a real chance of getting hold of such an album, it is important to sign up for the label’s newsletter. You will be one of the first to know about an available re-release!
