EPOS launches global campaign against bad audio

The audio brand EPOS announces the launch of its new global campaign ‘Bad Audio is Bad Business’. It’s time for some ‘understanding’.

It is actually weird that in a time of almost perfect high-end audio we still communicate in a rather ramshackle way. Of course, corporate communication is a very different game than enjoying music, yet there is a lot of bad sound (and therefore poor intelligibility) that’s not really needed.

That’s why EPOS launched the worldwide campaign ‘Bad Audio is Bad Business’. The campaign is based on recent research by the international market research agency IPSOS and EPOS, which shows that 95% of audio end users and decision-makers experience audio problems that affect their concentration and efficiency at work. An that costs companies that do not have access to high-quality audio technology both time and money.

These findings and more can be found in EPOS’s report ‘Understanding Sound Experiences’; a survey of 2,500 end users and decision makers of audio equipment, more than 75% of whom work in organisations employing more than 200 people.

Campaign video

We read further in the press release: ‘With an impressive video at the centre of the new campaign, EPOS underlines the importance of “What?”.

This video focuses on a study that lists the costs of, among other things: misunderstanding each other, miscommunication and repetition as a result of bad audio in business. Familiar situations and problems are outlined that are very recognisable to the viewer: from a conference call going wrong to being misunderstood at the other end of the line. The campaign video emphasizes the importance of good audio solutions that ensure flawless intuitive communication and effortless collaboration. This is no superfluous luxury to be successful as a company in today’s market’.

The numbers

According to EPOS’ report ‘Understanding Sound Experiences’, 87% of the end users surveyed experienced at least one problem due to poor sound quality in phone calls, whether they work in the office or from home. Examples include background noise (42%), having to repeat things (34%) and asking whether information can be repeated (34%). According to the study, these problems cause 69% of end-users to spend extra time on work tasks. The average end-user loses 29 minutes per week due to poor sound quality. According to decision makers, poor audio quality also leads to dissatisfied customers (23%), financial losses due to improper execution of work (18%), loss of important work/a deal leading to financial loss for the company (18%) or even loss of a tender (19%).

noise reduction

However, there is a reliable solution to many of these frustrations and problems with bad sound. Some 79% of decision-makers agree that good audio equipment such as headsets, headphones and speakerphones can reduce the problems with sound, both in phone calls and otherwise. For example, the best headsets on the market today include features such as AI-based noise reduction technology, which means a noisy colleague or busy work environment is no longer a distraction,” said EPOS.
