In addition to vinyl, the old-school cassette is also enjoying renewed (and growing) interest, which perfectly complements the new portable from We Are Rewind!
You might say: it can’t get any crazier. But to each their own. Are you perhaps also a cassette lover, or have you rediscovered your old collection? And do you want to listen to it on the go? If so, We Are Rewind has a portable cassette player for you. Of course, it can’t be called a Walkman, but the idea is similar. Interestingly, they’ve chosen an aluminum casing, which gives the whole thing a somewhat luxurious look. Going back to the eighties has never been so easy. The player is available in orange, blue or grey. Each color has its own name, respectively Serge, Kurt and Keith. A nice detail is that you can both listen to and record cassettes. A 3.5 mm line input is ready for the latter task. If you wish, you can also listen with a wireless Bluetooth headset.
Pencil
Naturally, much attention has been paid to the appearance by We Are Rewind. A typical 80’s style headphones with bright orange foam pads is included. You know, the ones that started to tickle after wearing for a while; it’s all part of the experience. Even a pencil is included. If you haven’t (actively) experienced the cassette era, you’ll quickly find out why that’s a handy accessory. The built-in battery is practical, good for about 12 hours of playtime when fully charged. No modern frills like Dolby.
The We Are Rewind portable cassette player costs €149, so at least that’s manageable.
