According to rumors, the Apple iPhone Pro 16 (SDR) brightness will be about 20% higher than its predecessor. Do we really need that…?
According to rumors as read here, the Apple iPhone Pro 16 will have a display with up to about 20 percent more brightness than its predecessor. In doing so, it would even surpass the just-released iPad Pro 2024. But: are we really waiting for all these ‘photon bombs’? Added to which, running an OLED screen continuously at maximum brightness significantly shortens its lifespan. Also, the energy consumption of a brighter screen increases significantly.
Anyway, in addition to the race to ever thinner devices, the race to ever brighter screens seems to be in full swing too now. Fortunately, you can always manually turn the brightness level down a notch on all smartphones and tablets. Saves burning eyes for example. Also, the current generation of TVs – especially in the evening hours – could do with a few notches less in terms of brightness… At least, that’s our humble opinion.
