The brand-new Audio-Technica ATH-ADX3000 is handcrafted in Japan, with components produced in-house.
The manufacturer presents their new Audio-Technica ATH-ADX3000 as a tribute to Japanese craftsmanship and the culmination of six decades of audio innovation by Audio-Technica. According to them, the ATH-ADX3000 builds on the success of the highly acclaimed ATH-ADX5000, the open-back headphones launched by Audio-Technica in 2017: “It guarantees an authentic and natural soundscape, allowing users to experience audio in its purest form. The premium drivers are not concealed behind an enclosure but are designed for unobstructed airflow, which entirely eliminates unwanted audio distortion. Audio-Technica’s drivers have an unmatched reputation—not only for their precision engineering and stunning sound quality but also for the realistic reproduction of every sound source.”
The ATH-ADX3000 also boasts a lightweight design and, according to Audio-Technica, superior comfort: “Our engineers achieved this by carefully studying the placement of each component to ensure a streamlined construction and minimalist look.”
‘Keeping the Membrane Movement Clean’
Lead engineer Hiromichi Ozawa shares the following about the design process of the headphones: “Our engineers went to great lengths to make frequencies audible that are normally hard to achieve with natural airflow. Our expertise in driver technology has greatly influenced our design approach to open-back headphones, allowing us to keep the membrane moving cleanly.”
Features
Here’s a quick overview of the main specs—in the manufacturer’s own words:
- Exposed drivers and unobstructed airflow, characteristic of open-back headphones, offer a pure and natural listening experience, eliminating unwanted distortion.
- Lightweight (257 g), minimalist, and breathable design, ideal for extended listening sessions.
- Premium drivers ensure the purest possible sound and a natural soundstage, with every membrane movement producing sound immediately, without artificial frequency enhancements or boosts caused by acoustic cavities and resonances.
- Audio-Technica’s innovative Core Mount technology, where the driver is directly integrated into the housing, optimizes positioning, airflow, and sound performance across the frequency range. This technology was first introduced in the highly praised ATH-ADX5000, our open-back dynamic headphones.
The ATH-ADX3000 is available at a suggested retail price of €999. More information can be found on the manufacturer’s website.
