Audio Technica has issued a recall for its ATH-SQ1TW2 in-ear earbuds, urging owners to return them immediately due to a potential fire hazard.

The issue of the Audio Technica ATH-SQ1TW lies with the battery in the charging case, which has the potential to overheat, posing a serious risk. Specifically, the recall applies to units with serial numbers between 2322 and 2426, according to a report from Tech Radar. If you own an ATH-SQ1TW2 with one of these serial numbers, you should stop using it immediately. Under no circumstances should you charge the case, as this increases the risk of overheating.

Additionally, avoid keeping the case in your pocket, car, or any confined space. For safety, it’s recommended to place the case outdoors on a non-flammable surface, such as a stone tile or equally stone flower pot, away from walls and vegetation.

If your product is affected, contact Audio Technica as soon as possible. The company will provide a safe replacement and ensure the defective unit is disposed of securely.
