Dutch distributor D&D Audio has announced the Astell & Kern Luna in-ear monitors, described as a truly luxurious offering.
According to D&D Audio, Astell & Kern designed the Luna “to embody the brand’s philosophy of combining technical precision with advanced design to deliver exceptional sound.” The Luna is one of the brand’s new flagship models in its high-end in-ear monitor lineup, developed in collaboration with Japanese company MADOO.
D&D continues: “This partnership is immediately evident in the unique 13mm ‘Katabiki’ micro planar magnetic driver. This unipolar magnetic system, featuring a single magnet and dual ring-shaped yoke, ensures an exceptionally fast response, high resolution, and natural-sounding reproduction. The Luna ranks among the absolute top tier of universal in-ear monitors and is a serious contender for those willing to invest in ultimate sound quality and artisanal craftsmanship.” The Luna boasts a frequency range of 20 Hz to 30 kHz, an extremely low impedance of 5 ohms, and a sensitivity of around 105 dB per milliwatt.
Handcrafted Titanium Build
The housing of the Luna is made entirely from titanium, intended to be lightweight, durable, and acoustically stable. According to the announcement, the design is inspired by the gentle curvature of the moon—hence the name. It has been optimized for a natural acoustic flow. “According to the designers, it’s not just about visual elegance and comfort—the curves have been carefully engineered to optimize the acoustic performance of the new driver. Each pair is handcrafted in Japan, contributing to both build quality and product exclusivity,” says the distributor.
Accessories
The Luna comes with premium accessories. Including a high-grade balanced cable made of silver-coated OCC and pure copper OCC with a 4.4 mm termination. And seven pairs of ear tips in various sizes, plus a luxurious Alcantara carrying case.
Pricing and Availability
Both models are available through A&K dealers affiliated with D&D Audio. The A&K Luna high-end in-ear monitors are priced at €2,990 per set. If you’d like to go for a regulart non-in-ear headphones of the brand, there is their The Virtuoso. They carry a suggested retail price of €960.
