German audio specialist Beyerdynamic has been acquired by Chinese manufacturer Cosonic, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the brand.

Beyerdynamic, a staple in professional studios worldwide – but also produces conference audio systems – is particularly known for its headphones. To secure the future of the company, which was founded in 1924 and now boasts over a century of history, the decision was made to sell. The relatively unknown Cosonic acquired the company for a sum of €122 million.

CEO Andreas Rapp has assured employees that nothing will change for them: all existing contracts and agreements will remain in place. However, as with many acquisitions, the emergence of a different corporate culture over time remains a possibility.

Cosonic is known as an OEM/contract manufacturer for several major audio brands, including Philips, JBL, Honor, Huawei, Beats, and others.
