Sometimes you come across devices that make you go “uhm…” — the Groove Thing is one of them. Let’s call it a “multi-sensory music player.”
At first glance, the Groove Thing looks pretty standard: a portable stereo speaker with a headphone jack. But the included extra plugs (let’s stick with that name) are far less familiar in the audio world. The idea is to connect these to specific bio-connectors on your body. When you start listening to music, you’ll feel the vibrations rhythmically flow through your body in sync with the sound. One button on the speaker controls the volume, while another adjusts the intensity of the vibrations from the accessories.
In short: the Groove Thing takes immersion even further than Dolby Atmos. The device is still in the Kickstarter phase, but since its funding goal was comfortably surpassed well before the deadline (see screenshot above), it looks like everything will work out just fine. Prices start at $299 (early bird), which gets you the speaker and three bio-plugs.
