Nothing Headphone (1)

The new Nothing Headphone (1) is the brand’s very first over-ear headphone – and its design is certainly eye-catching.

Developed acoustically in collaboration with legendary audio innovator KEF, the Headphone (1) promises, according to the manufacturer, an immersive listening experience with precise sound reproduction, intuitive controls, and the recognizable Nothing design, with openness and transparency at its core.

The Headphone (1) is designed for both audiophiles and casual listeners, says Nothing, and “sets a powerful new benchmark in the world of over-ear audio. Striking in both form and function, this product is made for anyone who sees sound quality as an extension of their personal style.”

With Headphone (1), we wanted to create something that doesn’t just sound great, but feels different the moment you hold it,” says Adam Bates, Head of Design at Nothing.

From the tactile controls to the transparent build—every detail was intentionally chosen. It’s a product that looks different, works differently, and invites people to connect with sound in a more expressive way.

‘Designed to feel as good as it sounds’

With its unique transparent elements and premium materials like molded aluminum, CNC-machined components, and PU memory foam, the Headphone (1) is built for comfort and visual impact. The lightweight earcups combine aluminum with durable plastics for strength, while telescoping arms ensure smooth adjustment. Oil-resistant ear cushions mold to the user’s head and reduce pressure on the ears, promising all-day comfort regardless of head shape.

Nothing: “The silhouette has been carefully designed to reflect the acoustic precision within: every curve, cut, and recess has been purposefully chosen to perfectly merge form and function.

Instead of touch controls, Nothing has deliberately opted for physical, tactile operation. With a Roller, Paddle, and Button, users have direct control over volume, playback, and ANC modes—eliminating the frustration that often comes with touch gestures.

Immersive sound in collaboration with KEF

The Headphone (1) is the first product to result from Nothing’s partnership with KEF. Leveraging KEF’s expertise and tuning technology, the custom 40 mm drivers are said to deliver rich, natural sound with deep bass, clear mids, and sparkling highs—regardless of whether ANC, Transparency, or Spatial Audio is enabled.

Built-in spatial audio with real-time head tracking turns any stereo source into a 360° listening experience that adapts to your movements. The headphone also supports Hi-Res Audio, LDAC, USB-C lossless audio, and a 3.5mm jack. A special damping system and highly linear suspension are said to minimize distortion, ensuring your music sounds just as the artist intended.

Advanced noise cancellation and crystal-clear calls

Real-time ANC uses dual feedforward and feedback microphones that automatically adjust to your surroundings. A Transparency mode lets in ambient sound when needed. For calls in noisy environments, a 4-microphone system with AI noise cancellation—trained on more than 28 million sound profiles—ensures your voice comes through clearly.

Powerful battery and smart features

The Headphone (1) offers up to 35 hours of playback with ANC on. A 5-minute quick charge delivers 2.4 hours of playtime. With Bluetooth 5.3, dual-device connectivity, Fast Pair, and low latency, switching between devices is seamless.

Personal listening experience with Channel Hop and AI

At the heart of the experience is the customizable button, which you can set via the Nothing X app. A single press activates Channel Hop: a fast way to switch between your favorite audio apps without scrolling through menus. Perfect for commuting, work, or the gym.

The button can also be used for voice commands, launching News Reporter, or activating Essential Space. Last mentioned option is an exclusive Nothing feature that lets you quickly capture ideas, reminders, or voice notes without interrupting your flow. The app also includes an advanced 8-band EQ for full control over your sound preferences.
