An electrostatic headphone like the Stax SR-007S is a bit more esoteric — and especially more high-end — than your average model.
The new Stax SR-007S is a further development within their 007 series. Considering the price point, this headphone is clearly aimed at the serious and critical listener — someone who seeks detail, long-term wearing comfort, and uncompromising sound quality. At least, that’s what the Japanese manufacturer promises. Compared to its predecessors, both the diaphragm and the electrodes have been further refined. The openings in the electrodes are now 20% smaller, which should result in a more even reproduction of even the smallest audio signals. Fine-tuning of the overall design ensures clear mids, well-defined bass, and a natural, spacious soundstage.
The ear pads are made of sheepskin leather, designed for extended wearing comfort. Its continuous steel headband is part of the brand’s proprietary Anti-Resonance Structure (ARS), which aims to effectively dampen unwanted cabinet resonances and thus improve overall sound quality.
