The new JBL Grip is even smaller than the brand’s well-known Flip series. Another new feature: it’s designed to be placed vertically.
About the size of a soda can and weighing just 385 grams, the JBL Grip portable speaker is clearly more compact than the Flip models. Inside is a 43 x 80 mm full-range driver powered by a built-in amplifier delivering a continuous output of 16 watts. Frequency response ranges from 70 Hz to 20 kHz. Like the latest Flip version, the Grip also features JBL’s AI Sound Boost technology, which analyzes music in real time and optimizes the output signal for reduced distortion at higher volumes.
Lighting effects
Visually, the JBL Grip resembles the Flip 7. As an extra touch, it includes built-in lighting effects with selectable colour themes. The unit is IP68 certified, meaning it’s resistant to water and dust. Its built-in battery provides up to 12 hours of playtime on a full charge. Bluetooth 5.4 supports Auracast, allowing you to pair two Grip units (or compatible models) for stereo playback.
The JBL Grip is priced at $99.95 and will be available from September 28.
