Sennheiser HD 480 PRO

While things have been relatively quiet on the consumer side of the brand, the professional division of Sennheiser continues to move forward—evidenced by the new HD 480 PRO.

The Sennheiser HD 480 PRO is a closed-back headphone designed for professional use. Think creators working in podcasts, video production, as well as musicians and audio engineers. One of the key focus points of this headphone is a consistent and accurate low-frequency reproduction, closely followed by wearing comfort—even during extended sessions.

Inside each earcup, you’ll find a 38 mm driver paired with lightweight voice coils. As is common in professional environments, this is a wired headphone. A practical feature is the so-called “Vibration Attenuation System,” an umbrella term for various techniques aimed at eliminating unwanted vibrations. Another welcome detail is the inclusion of a dedicated Comfort Zone for glasses wearers.

The HD 480 PRO is priced at $479.

DEAR SENNHEISER-LOVERS, DEAR SENNHEISER-PEOPLE, PLEASE HELPT TO SAVE THE SENNHEISER BRAND AND THUS THE REPUTATION OF THIS GLOBAL BRAND! Why is that? The Swiss hearing aid group wants to sell off its Sennheiser headphone division (600 jobs worldwide, 200 of them in Hanover) surprisingly quickly. Danger for the ENTIRE brand: A wrong buyer (hedge fund, anonymous private equity investor, multi-brand conglomerate, etc.) of the consumer division could also damage the entire Sennheiser brand. And thus also harm the core Sennheiser company in Wedemark, which now consists solely of the professional division (microphones, professional and DJ headphones, studio monitors, hardware and software, PA and conference technology). The best solution would be for the Sennheiser family (net worth according to Manager Magazin: at least 0.9 billion euros) to buy back its former company division. But the family apparently does not want that. That’s a shame. Now we need a campaign to save the Sennheiser headphone division from the wrong buyers and thus protect the 600 jobs as well as the Sennheiser brand’s image. All musicians, studios, and music fans should get involved on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Because it’s possible that a buyer won’t be found anytime soon, which could lead to negative headlines.
