On Sunday, January 30, we tested five interlinks live for you; actually, six, because we also picked up the “dropveter” for reference. A beautiful red/white cable that you will find standard in the box. You can watch the entire livestream back here. Below we outline our findings. Beware ‘non believers’; the differences are quite obvious! Also for the ‘blindfolded’ Yung.
A day before the livestream, your author takes a stroll around the park (it was nice and sunny…so just getting some fresh air). Those are almost always the moments when the ideas come. “Why don’t we do this test blind…”, suddenly springs to mind. “There are so many viewers who are not convinced until a test is done blind…We’re just going to do it!” And so it was done!
Five candidates and a blindfold
We wrote to almost all the interesting brands for this livestream and were able to fill five slots without any problems. We stopped at five because otherwise the test would be too big and too long. The candidates are:
- Supra Cable EFF-IX
- Van den Hul The Valley
- Art Speak WE (Western Electric)
- Ricable Dedalus Signal
- Chord Company Shawline
Prices are around 250 – 350 euros for a meter. With the exception of Supra which costs 140 euros. However, they really wanted to participate with this cable, because they estimate that it can compete very well. Even in this category. And yes … there is a grain of truth in that.
To give the test some extra ‘spice’, we start with a baseline that is laid by a standard cable: the red / white tulip. Or the “dropveter” as we call it. That way we know where we are coming from.
Yung also puts on a blindfold at every changeover so he doesn’t know which cable is playing. In short: Yung goes in blind. Afterwards, we compare our notes to see if that matches up a bit.
