Measurements and conclusion

We measured the JBL 4305P through the analog XLR input. Via digital inputs is not possible since there is an analog loop going through the Illusonic that compares the input with what the microphone picks up.
JBL shows that they do understand their business AND what the power of an active system is. The JBL 4305P just measures very good. The response is pretty straight, except for a – slight – roll of the treble. The bass starts at 60 to 70 Hz. That’s not deep, but know that the mid-bass unit is a 5.25-inch model. And the JBL can build up pressure there, we’ve noticed. JBL specifies 45 Hz -6dB. We didn’t measure that.
Distortion is generally very low. It goes below 1% at 70 Hz and stays there. We even see values below -60dB, which is equivalent to 0.1%. Around 1750Hz we see a peak to 0.40%. That’s exactly the crossover point. It is a 2nd harmonic that is dominant there. Also towards 9 / 10 kHz it is the 2nd harmonic that is dominant.
