Measurements and conclusion

We also measured the MOON Voice 22. We do so at 1 meter on- and off-axis. And with a ‘window’ of 3ms for a direct measurement (no reflections measured) and an ‘open-window’ to get an idea of the bass response. However, we then also measure reflections in space. Distortion is measured with a window of 15ms to measure some bass distortion as well. However, do not look below 100Hz; that is not reliable.
The MOON measures very well in terms of distortion. We see from 100 Hz that it dips below 1% and stays there. We see resonance around 50 Hz and 1300 Hz. The first is the port (we estimate). The second is probably the takeover point in the filter.
The tweeter has very low distortion with the deepest point being 0.05% which is really extremely good. On average we can say that the MOON Voice 22 stays below 0.3% in the important part (-50dB). Neat!
The MOON is not tuned completely flat. In our measurements it measures+/- 2dB around the axis. In short: no flat ruler, but not ‘all over the place’ either. The mid is tuned slightly ‘relaxed’, the treble has a slight spark, but not extremely so. We certainly see crazier tuned speakers in our listening room.
Have we heard the tuning? A little. The midrange is definitely relaxed. The treble just felt balanced. Perhaps because of the dispersion that brought the energy back into balance.
