Listening to the Roboli Phono cable
Contents
With the Roboli Design phono cable, it is a different story. A consistent difference exists and it is quite audible. Over the past few weeks, I have played a great deal of vinyl on the turntable. What stands out most is that the clarity of the vocalists is much better. The music is rhythmic and you’re drawn right into it. The treble is present, but never harsh. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but you really get that ‘vinyl feel’ when using this Roboli Phono cable.

With the Sommer Epilogue, the soundstage is clearly somewhat less ‘present’. It is mainly the treble that sounds different – less prominent but also less energetic. Overall, it sounds a bit more muted, as if someone had drawn a net curtain across the soundstage.
The soundstage is comparable; that of the Sommer Epilogue is slightly more horizontally expansive by comparison, whilst the Roboli Design cable delivers a more enveloping, rounded soundstage.
Conclusion: Roboli Design Phono Cable
For vinyl playback, the Roboli phono cable is consistently the better option, though here too the differences lie in the nuances. However, it is a nuance which, in my opinion, leads to greater engagement with the music and a better vinyl listening experience.
