We set up a couple of films, including the brutal action film Rambo Last Blood. Lots of explosions, pops and screams. The Teufel knows how to do that. Provided Dynamore is on. Without it, the whole thing is a bit flat and matte. The Teufel Cinebar Ultima did better. The new Shaft with a lot of music comes a bit tame into space. We lack musicality. Something the Ultima was able to bring. Hmm… The Cinedeck seems to be a product where design plays the leading role. Concessions have been made, that’s obvious. But yes, the fact is: the Teufel Cinedeck is certainly more beautiful than the Cinebar.

Music

Good. So movies are fine. Punch enough. Grunt enough. Vocals are easy to follow and if you are looking for space: Dynamore seems to be your best friend. Let’s go on to some music. First from the nVidia Shield with Plex Media Server. Then some Spotify via bluetooth.

Music is not really a strong point of the Teufel Cinedeck. The whole thing sticks a bit without Dynamore. And with Dynamore, we lack precision in display. Everything then becomes very big: it’s also a bit of a stain.

What’s clever, though, is that a subwoofer really isn’t necessary at the Cinedeck. There’s plenty of punch and low pressure. It’s pointy and tight? No, not directly. But at this price point it is not realistic to ask, is our opinion.

If we play artists like Underworld, 2Pac, Eelke Kleijn or Air, everything will still go well. Rock is a little cold and messy. Vocal work is possible, but lacks a little shine and commitment.

For whom?

The Teufel Cinedeck is a beautiful product to look at. And everything works the way it’s supposed to. However, concessions have been made. That’s obvious if you put the Teufel Cinebar Ultima next to it. It’s just better when it comes to pure performance. More precision, more punch, more music… More experience.

But the Teufel Cinedeck is a considerably more beautiful product to look at. And if that’s what you care about: yes… then this is a better choice. Just leave Dynamore on, don’t listen too critically and go.

Conclusion

The Cinedeck doesn't really grab us when we play music. Films go fine, but even there it doesn't offer the impact that the Ultima does. Considering the amount of money, the Teufel Cinebar Ultima is undoubtedly the better choice. So unless you don't have the space... go for the Ultima.
