How were the tests carried out?
The three cables were connected in turn between the Naim ND5XS streamer and the Kora TB200.
A playlist was created, using Audirvāna with locally stored files
Each cable was listened to using the same playlist:
- David Sylvian – “Let The Happiness In”. David Sylvian’s baritone voice is anchored in a layer of chords played by brass instruments. The muted trumpet solo needs to stand out from the background, but without becoming detached from the music. This track is all about atmosphere, and you want to experience that atmosphere.
- Caterina Barbieri, Bendik Giske – “Impatience, Magma”. A track with great depth in the soundstage that changes throughout the track. The contrast between the saxophone and the electronics sometimes produces sharp contrasts in tone.
- Collegium Vocale Gent, Royal Flemish Philharmonic, Philippe Herreweghe – “Tui Nati Vulnerati”, from Antonín Dvořák’s Stabat Mater. A spacious recording in which the choir is positioned behind the orchestra.
