Intro

Inserting a subwoofer seamlessly into a music system is not very easy. When a subwoofer can automatically measure and adjust itself, what then is the result? We try it out.

Founded in 1983 in the USA, Velodyne was acquired in 2019 by their agent in Germany. The company is a subwoofer specialist and manufactures several series. The Velodyne Digital Drive Plus series consists of four versions: with a 10, 12, 15 or 18-inch woofer. We have ‘the smallest’ in the series, the 10-inch, which is still a hefty cabinet.

The subwoofer is supplied with a microphone and cables of sufficient length to set it up properly.

This review consists of two parts. First, the steps to properly position the Velodyne and measure itself, and second, the subwoofer’s effect on the music at home. Because that is what it is all about: what does a subwoofer add to the reproduction of music?
