Volumio Preciso compared with the Earmen Tradutto

No, we make this comparison not because of the Italian names, but because we would also like to compare the Preciso with a DAC from a similar price range. We are doing this comparison in Leiden. We know that the Tannoy speakers, given their true Studio Monitor heritage, will make every little difference audible.
Compared to the Earmen, there is more detail and more foundation, but the pacing of the music is not quite right with the Preciso.
This is clearly audible in “Do It Again” by Steely Dan. It lacks energy and precise attack rhythmically, it doesn’t quite listen relaxed. The difference is magnified with the Van Baerle Trio. The fire in the performance, palpable with the Earmen, is missing with the Preciso.
