Apple Music: now listen via LG tv’s

You can now listen to Apple Music via LG smart TVs, including watching 4K music videos if you are in the mood.

Apple Music is slowly appearing on more and more devices. Not a bad thing, because this music streaming service has a lot to offer. Choose from over 90 million songs, and use one of the 30,000+ playlists to satisfy your musical appetite. While this streamer used to be almost exclusively for Apple devices (or via software on a PC), the service has been available as an app on Samsung smart TVs for about a year and a half. And now owners of an LG smart TV can also listen to Apple Music. Only requirement is that you have a device running the brand’s webOS 4.0 or higher.

No lossless and no Dolby Atmos

There is, however, a catch with Apple Music on LG televisions. Unfortunately you cannot enjoy lossless quality, or enjoy Dolby Atmos tracks. Too bad, because those are obviously the highlights of Apple Music. On the other hand, you can always use your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Apple TV device for that. Why these features were not included in the TV conversion is unknown. Technically, it should pose few problems. Especially not if you transfer a digital audio signal to, say, a Dolby Atmos-capable soundbar or hi-fi system. Ditto for lossless. Well, who knows maybe one day!
