Synology presents the DiskStation DS1823xs+, a high-performance tower-based storage solution with storage capacity of up to 144 TB (324 TB with expansion).
Synology released the DiskStation DS1823xs+, a high-performance central storage solution in a compact form factor. With a gross storage capacity of up to 144 TB* before expansion, the DS1823xs+ is ideal for storing unstructured data in offices and studios, backing up endpoints and servers within the office, sharing and syncing files between devices and locations, or managing local surveillance systems, according to the manufacturer. The solution can be flexibly deployed in places that don’t have their own server cabinet or data center.

Flexible, secure and reliable
‘With speeds in excess of 3,100/2,600 MB/s for sequential read/write** and flexible configuration options, DS1823xs+ supports demanding applications in creative and data-focused industries. Random I/O performance can be enhanced by fast M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD storage volumes, or by designating SSDs as read/write caches for HDD volumes.*** Built-in 10GbE connectivity and up to four 1/10/25GbE or Fibre Channel ports support bandwidth-hungry applications, while Synology DX517 expansion units*^ can be added to the DS1823xs+ to achieve a total gross storage capacity of 324 TB when needed’, reads the announcement of the newcomer.
DSM
The DS1823xs+ runs on DiskStation Manager (DSM), Synology’s browser-based operating system that makes remote management very easy with powerful storage management, data protection and maintenance solutions. Capabilities include disk replacement, cloud-based monitoring of system health and security for geographically dispersed servers, and an out-of-band (OOB) management port to enable remote reboot, reset and troubleshooting even when the system is turned off. Server pairs can be set up in an active-passive configuration to minimize downtime.
A multifunctional data platform
Synology Drive allows users to access, share and sync files between PCs, Macs and mobile devices, enhance collaboration between office and remote workers, and synchronize or share files between offices around the world. With Hybrid Share*^^, businesses can harness the power of the cloud to efficiently sync data between offices and expand their storage space “on demand. While the bulk of data is securely stored in Synology C2 data centers, caches of frequently used files are kept on local Synology servers for reliable access at LAN speeds.
Effortless data backup
Backups of PCs, Macs, Linux endpoints, servers, Synology systems, VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace can be brought together on the DS1823xs+ with Active Backup Suite. Incremental backups reduce backup time, while quick recovery options help businesses improve recovery time objectives (RTO) and powerful data deduplication dramatically reduces storage space usage.
Files and LUNs stored on the DS1823xs+ can be protected from ransomware attacks and other threats with Snapshot Replication thanks to near-instantaneous snapshots, while minimizing storage space usage and recovery time. Hyper Backup*^^ allows data to be securely backed up to a variety of destinations, such as offsite servers, the cloud or external media.
A Versatile Video Surveillance Platform
Designed specifically for businesses, Synology’s Surveillance Station is a powerful and flexible video management system that supports over 8,300 validated and ONVIF-certified IP cameras. Up to 75 cameras can be added to the DS1823xs+*^^^, and larger installations are possible by linking servers to the built-in Centralized Management System. Users benefit from a wide range of tools for intuitive monitoring, management and analysis for PCs and mobile devices, allowing them to protect their properties wherever they are.
Availability
The DS1823xs+ is available immediately through Synology partners and resellers. The suggested retail price is €1,920 (including VAT) and €1,600 (excluding VAT).
